2008 Mission to Greece

It looks like I’m going to Greece instead of Suriname.

Greece 08001

June 8 – July 29 Work/Evangelism

Rich history, vibrant culture and sumptuous cuisine blend together in Greece, a nation at the center of the Mediterranean world.

After completing Boot Camp you bus to the Miami International Airport for a flight across the Atlantic Ocean to Paris, France. A connecting flight takes you over the Swiss Alps, southern Europe and the Adriatic Sea to Athens, the capital city of Greece. From here you board a bus for a four-hour drive north along the coast to your project site in Volos, located at the foot of Mt. Pelion.

Your project will be to paint the church buildings of the Greek Evangelical Church; you will also be involved in the church’s outreach to the community by landscaping along the roadways. Housing for the team will be in buildings and showers are available. Laundry will be done using a bucket.

On weekends you will present the Gospel message through puppets, music, drama and personal testimonies. During free time you may swim in the Aegean Sea and visit Thessaloniki and Philippi, where you will see ruins of early churches mentioned in the New Testament.

While visiting Athens, see Mars Hill where Paul debated Greek philosophers in view of the Acropolis. Enjoy the search for souvenirs such as leather goods, jewelry and pottery to remind you of your summer.

Following your project, you return to Paris for two days of sightseeing where you may see the Louvre, Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame. You return to Florida for Debrief. (Note: Florida Beach Debrief)
