Our home base in Greece was a camp owned by the Greek Orthodox Church, so it was a miracle that we were allowed to stay there at all. They had never had Protestants stay there before.
Our local missionary/pastor was Melleti. I really liked him. He’s short and a lot of fun! He spent four years trying to lead people to Christ, but they just got offended because they’re already Greek Orthodox. About four years ago he started serving more than talking and since then has had much better results over time. They were all so happy that we were there. My favourite was when I sang a solo in church at the English service.

The goal of our team to Greece was to draw attention to the Gospel and increase the perception of evangelicals who are held in very low esteem by picking up trash and painting the fence of a mental institution.
We wore shirts and hats with messages from the Greek evangelical church while we picked up trash on the highways and byways of Volos for about 5 hours a day. I’ve never seen so much trash. we gave presentations in church at both the Greek and English services to encourage the local believers. The mental institute put a letter of thanks into the biggest newspaper and on the last day the governor of Volos came and put us on TV and so we did leave a good witness.
I’m glad I went, and I met great Greek people plus my team members and ate amazing food.

There is another update at the Teen Missions website. Everything is progressing well, with many blessings in Thálion’s mission trip to Greece. They are blessing the local community and building a good reputation for the Greek Evangelical Church.
It turns out that Thálion did some sort of special music at the church service last week! I have no idea what he did or how it went, but I’m terribly eager to find out!
We pick him up on the 29th—just eighteen days left!

Got another update from Thálion’s team today. I sure wish they had RSS feeds!
We also got our first letter from Thálion this week. It would have been from sometime his first week. It sure sounded grumpier than what Bonne heard on the phone with him, so presumably the second week went better.
Please continue to pray for Thálion. The team is a lot more evangelism-oriented than originally planned, and direct-contact evangelism is very very hard. Pray for us too; we’re really missing our boy!

Hey folks.
There’s an update from Thálion’s team in Greece at the Teen Missions site. Sounds like they have relatively light duty and low temperatures (70-90ºF, no rain) thus far.
There’s a couple of pictures of T on the TMI site:

Keep praying!

I kept the phone close by all morning because I knew Thálion would probably have a chance to call me from the airport.

Last night all of the Early Boot Camp kids went through a Commissioning service, agreeing to carry the light of Jesus to their various countries of service. Thálion said he found the service very exciting. Then his team got on a bus for Miami. They got pizza to go and ate on the bus (he’s had no junk food for two weeks) and they settled in to “sleep” at Miami airport about 3am. He was up only two hours later, and called me just after I saw Seth and Celia off to school. We got to talk for 45 minutes.

We put Thálion on the plane in Spokane, Washington this morning. We got a call from him by the time we arrived back home—he has completed his flights and should be at Boot Camp now. Please continue to pray for him.

Praise God! If we’ve calculated correctly for all the people who send money directly to TMI, we’ve raised $3420 of the money we need! Thank you all so much!
The exchange rate will modify things slightly, so we’re not totally sure what the end figure will be. But we appreciate everyone’s generosity so much.
God bless.
More postings here as we get ’em. Thálion leaves June 7!

Today’s benefit concert, despite massive technical difficulties, was an incredible success. The concert was small, but contributors generously donated $710!
We have bypassed the halfway point and raised $2400 towards Thálion’s trip. Thanks everyone so much for your generosity.
Next concert is at Family Worship Centre, 1700-3rd Avenue, Trail.
